The future of our planet is being decided in every present-day decision we make. As a brand rooted in youth culture, we recognize the responsibility we have to protect the environment for future generations. We’re committed to reducing our impact on the planet by eliminating single-use plastics, reimagining the life cycle of our products, and providing our Vans family with resources and education to be more sustainably-focused in the choices they make each day, both personally and in business.

In order to reduce the overall footprint of Vans, our team has set ambitious sustainability goals. Big or small, all of our efforts add up to positive change. Vans is committed to a lower carbon future by reducing greenhouse emissions, eliminating single-use plastics from our packaging, and reimagining the lifecycle of our products by 2030.

These are the steps we are taking to get there:

VR3 is the Vans commitment to having our most used materials (cotton, leather, rubber and polyester) be 100% Regenerative, Responsibly Sourced Renewable, or Recycled by 2030.

One or more of the following materials make up at least 30% of all products with the VR3 Checkerboard Globe logo:

Responsibly Sourced Renewable: materials sourced from plants, animals, and microbes that can be replenished within a person's lifetime and are processed using methods that follow proven sustainable practices with the intention of reducing potential impacts on people and planet.

Regenerative: materials produced from agricultural practices that are intended to help promote biodiversity, enhance water cycles, improve soil health and/or sequester carbon.

Recycled: materials that have been recovered or diverted from the waste stream.

*VF considers 'Proven' to encompass options with strong data vetted by internal teams, 3rd party certifications or LCA data, where applicable. VF responsible sourcing teams verify that all materials choices align with applicable standards and policies

DISCOVER VR3 TECHNOLOGY

Vans footwear, apparel and accessories featuring our VR3 Checkerboard Globe Logo represent a major step forward in the pursuit of creating more sustainable products, made up of at least 30% Regenerative, Responsibly Sourced Renewable, or Recycled materials.

VR3 FOOTWEAR

Products with the EcoCush logo represent footbeds/midsoles made with a minimum of 30% biobased foams from plant-based sources.

New compound is made using naturally-derived rubber (instead of petroleum-derived synthetic rubber) and obtained from sources that follow proven sustainable practices with the intention of reducing potential impacts on people and planet.

VR3 APPAREL AND ACCESSORIES

Textile materials contain at least 40% or more of Responsibly Sourced Renewable, Regenerative, or Recycled materials;

Responsibly Sourced Renewable Organic Cotton & Lyocell: Materials sourced from plants that naturally replenish within a person's lifetime and use feedstocks and processing methods that follow proven sustainable practices with the intention of reducing the impact on people and the planet

Recycled PET & Recycled Cotton: materials that have been recovered or diverted from the waste stream

Introducing the new Circle Vee: Renewable materials that regrow as we use them, knitted uppers that reduce waste, and a good step forward because we put in the effort with the little things.

Cleaner oceans are a big job. Every little bit helps.

Organic Cotton

Upper knit made with 48% organic cotton / 47% hemp / 5% nylon. Midsole made from (FatesTM) at least 70% biobased foam derived from plant-based oils.

Jute Laces

Laces made with 100% jute fiber. Jute is grown with minimal water and is considered a fast growing renewable crop.

Natural Rubber

Made with natural rubber sourced from tree farms that follow ethical and sustainable practices to minimize harm to the ecosystem.

* to support and protect the world's ocean, vans will be donating $1 for every Circle Vee product sold, with a minimum of $25,000 donated, to the Tides Foundation to support Ocean Conservancy
